Despite only having a short two-day visit to this iconic city, just a few hours spent wandering the cobbled streets of Rome was enough to give us a taste of the city's ancient history. Spanning over two thousand years, it was evident that the ancient history of Rome still lies at the heart of this bustling city.
As you walk through the busy streets the enchanting drama and theatre of the ancient world still lingers in the air - particularly made stronger by the presence of iconic artwork and architecture that graces every corner.
With no set plan or itinerary in mind, we decided to let the enchanting air of Rome guide us through the city's streets. Even though most of the time we had no idea where we were going, this "non-plan" worked out for the best!
Getting lost in the wonderful maze that is Rome's cobbled alleyways was a far better way of spending our time than standing in long queues (for hours) trying to get a a minutes glimpse of a famous attraction. Getting lost (and finding hidden gems) proved that Rome is an attraction all by itself!
