Rome : The Eternal City
Despite a short visit to this iconic city, a few days spent wandering the cobbled streets of Rome was enough to give us a taste of the city's ancient history.
Spanning over two thousand years, the ancient history of Rome still lies very much at the heart of this bustling and modern city.
Even as you walk through the busy streets of this enchanting city the drama and theatre of the ancient world still lingers in the air - particulalry through the iconic artwork and architecture which grace almost every corner.
With no particular plan or itinerary in mind, we decided to let the enchanting air of Rome guide us through the city streets.
Although we often had no idea where we were going, this "non-plan" worked out for the best!
Getting lost in the wonderful maze that is the city's cobbeled alleyways was a far better way of spending our time than standing in long lines (for hours) trying to get a glimpse of a few famous attractions. Afterall, Rome is an entire attraction by itself!
