Being that I haven't done any travel posts in a while, I thought I would share some photos of our little safari adventures during a recent trip back home to South Africa.
Before this trip, the last safari I went on was in the seventh grade!
So I was excited when we settled into our two-nights accommodation at a lovely game reserve in the Eastern Cape province.
Besides stuffing ourselves with the delicious food on offer (I think we gave the animals some competition in terms of eating our weight in food!), each day consisted of two game drives - one at the break of dawn and one in the early evenings.
On both days we were lucky enough to spot most of the big five and we managed to spot all except for the elusive leopard! In between spotting animals on our bush adventures in the evenings we stopped for an indulgent 'tea break' ( consisting more of cheese and wine than actual tea!) to catch the magnificent sunset.
Apart from some of the elusive animals we encountered (and eating my weight in cheese & wine!) the highlight of the trip was definitely our encounter with a group of fun-loving giraffes! I don't know what they feed these guys - but they were the most affectionate (and expressive) giraffes I have ever seen! OIA (Only in Africa!).
As a bonus, I leave you with some pics of this cheeky cheetah - who I think was either pulling funny faces at me or was in the middle of doing some serious toilet business as I snapped his pics! Lol..
That face! :-)
