It feels so strange to be doing this for the first time in two months, but, HELLO!!
Having ̶f̶r̶a̶n̶k̶l̶y̶ ̶d̶i̶s̶a̶p̶p̶e̶a̶r̶e̶d̶ ̶o̶f̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶f̶a̶c̶e̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶e̶a̶r̶t̶h̶ spent some time away from blogging these past few months, I now realise what a fuzzy state my brain was in before I took leave!
For instance, today I noticed that all my January and February blog posts had been dated incorrectly (all dated 2016 instead of 2017), and yes, I only noticed that today!! So, a fuzzy brain coupled with the effects of yet another international move (e.g. applying for new bank accounts, house-hunting, converting driving licences and trying to figure out what my WhatsApp number actually is now! etc.) meant that I was clearly in need of a short break from blogging.
As things have started to calm down since our move back to Singapore in February, we are slowly nudging our way back to sanity! While life in Singapore largely remains unchanged since our last time here - it's still as humid/sticky as ever, freezing shopping malls still adorn every street corner and eating is still the national pastime! - today I thought I would be decent enough to share what I've been up to these past few months.
Besides gradually recovering from fuzzy brain syndrome I have spent the past few months slowly retracing my steps back to what I believe to be the soul and rhythm of Singapore: traditional Chinese shop-houses laced with intricate details, peaceful walks along charming streets in former housing estates turned-hip-neighbourhoods, getting lost in the bursting array of colourful wall murals, smells and flavours of cultural hubs such as Chinatown, Kampong Glam and Little India! This is the Singapore that makes my heart flutter. Needless to say it feels good to be back!
