Planning your Wedding
As today marks my second wedding anniversary (yay!) I am looking forward to spending the day chugging down a few glasses of wine while reliving our wedding day (and our slightly awkward wedding dance!) through photos and videos.
With the stresses of wedding planning well behind me, today I can also celebrate never having to look at another Pinterest "wedding board" ever again! I can now look forward to attending other people's weddings instead!
Lets face it , no matter how perfect the photos turn out to be, weddings are stressful - end of story! Add some overbearing relatives and tipsy cousins to the mix (true story) and you have yourself a wedding fit for reality tv!
But no matter how stressful planning a wedding may be, over time (once the confetti has settled) you give into nostalgia and learn to smile at even the "imperfect' things about your wedding day, which once seemed like unconquerable mountains!
In the hopes of passing on some informed advice to those yet to embark (or are currently embarking) on their roller coaster wedding planning journey, I have listed a few tips and pebbles of wisdom I picked up during my own year of wedding planning.
If anything, this post is meant to encourage you to surge ahead without fear, and to remind you that very soon you too will be chugging down endless glasses of wine as you walk down memory lane! Most of all, you will tale heroic tales of how you survived it all!
Lesson # 1 : Budget.. budget.. budget!
If there was ever one thing I dreaded most at the beginning of my wedding planning it was definitely anything to do with the wedding budget! In retrospect I should have known better! But as I slowly worked my way through various wedding budget spreadsheets and worksheets I found online I began to see that the foundation of a good wedding plan starts and ends with a well-planned budget. The best part was also finding out that there are tons of free (and pretty) online resources to help you plan the budget and keep track of your other wedding plans.
